Where Else Can You Lose Yourself Completely but Mykonos?

Mark your calendars for the yearly Grape Harvest Festival on the second Sunday in September!

The Grape Harvest Festival dates back to the Ancient Greeks and Gods, whose lives were created by myths and legends. In the name of the Greek God, Dionysus, the ancient Greeks offered the occasion of a significant event such as the grape harvest to create a product of wine to reconcile with the God.

Besides the festival, Mykonos, during anytime of the year, offers the beauty exactly as one would expect from viewing all the postcards of azure turquoise colored water, whitewashed buildings, small churches, flat roofs and blue shutters and doors.

The capital of the island, Hora, is a typical sample of Cycladic architecture. It is built in a flat area, in front of the lively harbour, shaped in a graceful crescent. White small streets with colorful balconies adorned with flowers compose the scenery of Mykonos town. Hora is a large maze as you wander along the narrow streets and alleyways. Each turn on each corner will contain another surprise; perhaps another pelican or another tavernas from which the latest in Euro funk can be heard emanating.

In the daytime, it’s a big shopping mall full of quaint shops selling folk art, Greek gauze dresses, skimpy bikinis and large Jackie O sunglasses; then a transformation takes place at night time; it’s becomes one huge outdoor disco with music blasting everywhere. Go ahead; follow the music and dance on the street with the rest. No one will give it a second thought.

You can leave the glitz and music behind, while exploring and come upon a different sight to greet you; a villa home!

Your villa home becomes your own private sanctuary where and your travelling companions can rent pure luxury in this popular Greek isle with views of the wonderful Aegean with a semi private pool. Perched high over the sea, do what everyone does and take a moped down to the beach. Or if you are in the center of town, try the local bus and socialize with the natives and other vacationers.

Relax in a Greek Isle Villa like those in the know do!

The Villa Leto (on the left) is just one of several fantastic properties available in Mykonos.

With windmills atop the hill to the south, crown the setting of mind and spirit. Viewing the open seas with Delos beyond only enhances the scene. Hard to imagine, but it only gets better at dusk for the unsurpassed sunsets. The sky then changes into thousands of pigments and you will obtain the best photos of your life.

Mykonos is accessible by plane from Athens or by boat from Piraeus with a regular and high speed ferry boat service. It is best to book early as this is the place to be and you not want to miss it.

Remember, there is only one thing to do to get over the post-holiday blues when you return from Mykonos; Book another One! Especially for the Grape Harvest Festival each year on the second Sunday in September!
